Francesc Julbe is a telecommunications engineer from Barcelona who joined the Gaia team at the University of Barcelona back in 2004, after a few years working in the IT private sector. He helped fine tuning the GDASS and IDT subsystems and also worked designing a VO interface for GUMS as a Master Thesis. He left the group in early 2007 to work at ESO (European Southern Observatory) as a software engineer, first in the VLT (Very Large Telescope) and later on in the ALMA project (Atacama Large Milimiter Array), where he worked for 3 years. In 2012, he re-joined again the Gaia team in Barcelona to work as a software engineer in charge of the CU2-GOG project.

Since 2014 he is work package coordinator of the Data Mining Work Package in the frame of the CU9 and the GENIUS project.

When he’s not working, he likes to spend the time with his two daughters and that leaves not much time for anything else!
