200 - Tailoring to the end user comminity

A key goal of the proposal is to ensure that the technical developments carried on are driven by and focused on the scientific needs of the astronomical community that will use the Gaia catalogue. This work package is devoted to ensure that systems and tools developed by GENIUS for the Gaia data exploitation. Quoting the FP7 call, “add value to space missions and earth based observations by significantly contributing to the effective scientific exploitation of collected data. […] enable space researchers to take full advantage of the potential value of data sets. […] expand the use of data, and/or contribute to dissemination of space mission data on a global scale”. It includes a specific task devoted to the so-called “grand-challenges”, scientific projects based on Gaia data that will require a massive and intensive use of the archive system. These projects need a specific preparation beyond the normal queries to the system.
