CU2<\/span> is the<\/span> unit<\/span> that provides<\/span> simulated<\/span> data<\/span> to allow the development<\/span> and validation of<\/span> the<\/span> data reduction<\/span> algorithms of the mission,<\/span> also<\/span> generating large<\/span> simulated samples<\/span> for common use<\/span> of<\/span> the other<\/span> CUs<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> CU2<\/span> Unit<\/span> has provided to<\/span> Gaia<\/span> DPAC<\/span> a huge<\/span> volume<\/span> of data (<\/span>tera–<\/span>bytes)<\/span> for the several purposes<\/span><\/span>:<\/p>\n

  3. Testing of reduction algorithms and their validation<\/li>\n
  4. Scientific results<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"cu2products2\"<\/a>The Gaia Simulator<\/p>\n

    The<\/span> Barcelona<\/span> team<\/span> has a strong<\/span> participation<\/span> in this Coordination<\/span> Unit<\/span>. <\/span>We are responsible for<\/span> the most important<\/span> modules, such as<\/span> the two<\/span> data generators<\/span><\/span>: GASS,<\/span> designed to generate<\/span> a large set of<\/span> Gaia<\/span> telemetry<\/span> data<\/span> in order to<\/span> prepare data<\/span> reduction<\/span> algorithm<\/span>; GOC,<\/span> able to<\/span> generate the final<\/span> catalog of<\/span> the mission.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
